Without a doubt, the English Premier League (EPL) is one of the most popular football leagues in the world, and it is full of excitement and surprises.

The EPL was founded in 1992, and since then we have seen some incredible EPL records broken, giving its well deserved reign over other English leagues.

Let's take a look at these spectacular English Premier League Records...

Team Records

1. Most Premier League Title wins

Manchester United currently hold the title for the most Premier League title wins, starting with the very first 1992/93 season, and they have been frequently consistent from there on.

They have a total of 13 titles, including seasons; 1992/93, 1993/94, 1995/96, 1996/97, 1998/99, 1999/00, 2000/01, 2002/03, 2006/07, 2007/08, 2008/09, 2010/11 & 2012/13.

Manchester United also hold the title for the most consecutive premier league wins, as you may be able to tell from the data above!

2. Most Premier League wins in a season

Manchester City and Liverpool currently tie for this record, both have won 32 out of 38 games in a season.

Manchester City have done this twice, in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 premier league seasons making them the winners of the record. Liverpool were able to break this record a year later in the 2019/20 season.

3. Most Premier League goals scored in a season

With a total of 106 goals in one season, Manchester City hold this record. City were able to top Chelsea's 2009/10 record of 103 goals almost 10 years later in the 2017/18 season.

Sergio Aguero had scored 21 of these goals with Raheem Sterling scoring 18, clearly Pep Guardiola’s landing had made a huge difference for the team having not won a PL title for 4 years and going on to break the goal record and win the league title.

4. Fewest goals conceded in a season

Jose Mourinho’s/Chelsea’s 2004/05 team took the lead with this record, with a total of just 15 goals conceded.

That same year, Chelsea won the league and had lost just 1 game that season, an insanely impressive year for the team.

It came with help from Petr Cech who had 25 clean sheets throughout the season and his sidekick John Terry in defence.

1. Most Premier League appearances

During his 22-year career, Gareth Barry achieved the record for the most Premier League appearances. He played a total of 653 games for the likes of Aston Villa, Man City, Everton, and West Bromwich Albion.

2. Most consecutive Premier League appearances

American national Brad Friedal holds the title for the most consecutive PL appearances with a total of 310. He played 310 games straight from 2004 to 2012, while playing for Blackburn Rovers, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.

3. Top Premier League Scorer

During his 14-year PL career with Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United, Alan Shearer scored a huge total of 260 goals, making him the top PL scorer in history. No wonder he is known as one of the greatest players of his generation!

4. Most Premier League goals at one club

Harry Kane takes the reins with this record, he has scored a total of 185 goals during his career at Tottenham Hotspur.

In the 2017/18 season, he scored a total of 41 goals in 48 games and in the following season he and his team came second in the UEFA Champions League. In the 2020/21 season he finished as the top scorer and had the most assists in the league.

5. Most Premier League Goals in a season

Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer are joint second for this one, with a total of 34 goals in 42 matches, and they happen to be just 1 season apart! Cole achieved this during the 1993/94 season while playing for Newcastle United and Shearer reached the record in 1994/95 for the Blackburn Rovers.

Mohammed Salah is not far behind with 32 goals for Liverpool in 2017/18 in a total of 38 matches.

6. Most Premier League hat-tricks

Sergio Aguero scored a total of 12 hat-tricks while playing for Manchester City, between 2011 and 2021.

He is also tied for the record for the most PL hat-tricks in a single match, with the total being 5! He shares this record with Andrew Cole, Alan Shearer, Jermain Defoe, and Dimitar Berbatov.

7. Most Premier League assists in a season

While playing for Arsenal in 2002/03, Thierry Henry managed to achieve a total of 20 assists in a single season, as did Kevin De Bruyne for Manchester City in 2019/20.

8. Oldest Premier League Player

In May 1995, John Burridge made history as the oldest PL player in history, at aged 43 years and 162 days when playing for Man City against Queens Park Rangers.
